THE RHTHM OF THE OCEAN

Is an audiovisual project in which we explore the relationship between sound and image through the ocean as a system of rhythms, currents, and constant transformation. We approach the sea not as a representation, but as a medium: an environment governed by its own physical and perceptual logic.

The work unfolds as an abstract digital painting in motion. Layers of light, color, and texture evolve following the pulse of the music by Suzanne Ciani, with whom we share a common view of the ocean as a source of energy, waves, and flows. Sound and image develop as a single system in continuous transformation.

The ocean is also a key regulator of the Earth’s climate. Water temperature and ocean currents redistribute heat, influence weather patterns, and shape marine life. In a context marked by climate change, pollution, and overfishing, these natural rhythms are increasingly altered. The Rhythm of the Ocean takes this physical reality as its conceptual foundation, working with the ideas of pulse, balance, and imbalance as central elements of the work..

The Vortex version was created for the Vortex space at the Bluetech Zone, a cylindrical space fully surrounded by LED screens. The continuous 360° surface allows the visual flow to wrap around the viewer, reinforcing the sensation of being inside a moving system.
The imagery is composed as a circular, uninterrupted sequence, emphasizing rhythm, repetition, and gradual transformation driven by the music.

The architectural mapping version of The Rhythm of the Ocean was first developed for the Signal Festival at the Municipal Library building in Mariánské náměstí . This initial adaptation translates the rhythms and processes of the ocean into a large-scale visual composition that interacts directly with the architecture.
Working with depth, flow, and transformation, the imagery moves between calm and turbulence, reflecting the constant motion through which balance is sustained. Sound and image operate as a single system, where the pulse of the music drives the visual evolution across the building’s surface.

TEASER

At the Digital After All exhibition in El Mèdol, we presented the exhibition version of the piece — a contemplative adaptation designed for flat projection. In this format, The Rhythm of the Ocean unfolds as an abstract painting in motion, where light, texture, and rhythm flow across the screen like underwater currents.

This version invites the viewer into a space of quiet observation — a digital canvas that reflects transformation, impermanence, and the invisible rhythms that connect us to the natural world.

Since its premiere at Mira Festival, the fulldome version of has been presented at several international fulldome festivals and venues, including Zeneháza Dome (Budapest), Nordische Filmtage Lübeck, 36° Festival (Paris), and Domo Arte Latam.

In May 2022, we worked side by side with Suzanne Ciani and Lapsus Records on an exclusive show designed for the Barcelona Planetarium. This collaboration became the starting point that shaped The Rhythm of the Ocean.
